For the past eight years, Indalo Inclusive has convened the Indalo Symposium as a platform for bringing together stakeholders across enterprise development, innovation, investment, sustainability and inclusive economic development. Over this period, the Symposium has provided a space for dialogue, knowledge exchange, relationship building and the exploration of opportunities that contribute to more inclusive and sustainable economic development
The evolution Of the Indalo Symposium has mirrored Indalo Inclusive's broader work as an enterprise development and ecosystem-building organisation. Through its programmes, partnerships and networks, Indalo has worked across the intersections of enterprise, finance, innovation, communities and inclusive economic development, recognising that meaningful and lasting change requires different parts of the ecosystem to connect, collaborate and act together.
As Africa enters a period of significant economic, technological, environmental and social transition, there is an opportunity to build on the foundation established through the Indalo Symposium and expand its ambition. The next chapter of the platform seeks to place these conversations within a broader African context, bringing together the actors, opportunities and partnerships needed to shape a more inclusive transition economy.
IGNITE NEXT AFRICA emerges from this evolution.
Building on the experience, relationships and lessons of the Indalo Symposium, it seeks to create a broader platform for connecting Africa's people, institutions, capital, enterprises, ideas and opportunities.
IGNITE NEXT AFRICA is therefore conceived as more than an annual convening. It is an ecosystem-building platform designed to create meaningful connections between the different actors required to move from dialogue and opportunity towards collaboration and action. In doing so, it carries forward the legacy of the Indalo Symposium while opening a new chapter in Indalo Inclusive's ambition to contribute to Africa's inclusive and sustainable economic future.
Indalo Inclusive South Africa is a Not-for-Profit company established with a mandate to support and promote social, green, inclusive, and responsible entrepreneurship in South Africa.
Established and registered in South Africa in November 2017, the official launch of Indalo Inclusive took place on Friday, 19 January, in its offices at the Innovation Hub in Pretoria. The launch is a milestone in providing direct support to South African enterprises and aspiring entrepreneurs that thrive at the intersection of the green and the social economy.
Indalo which stands for "creation", "nature" and "ecology" in isiZulu- is responsible for implementing Entrepreneurial projects that strengthen a more environmentally friendly and socially inclusive economy in the country through capacity building, dialogue and policy consulting.
At Indalo we are convinced that on the way to an inclusive green economy in South Africa a key pillar is the greening and "going sustainable" of conventional enterprises, but even more so is the promotion, advancement and strengthening of eco-inclusive entrepreneurship — entrepreneurship that integrates social, environmental and economic impacts around the core value proposition of the enterprise, or how we would call it Indalopreneurship.
